American Express is set to make “major updates” to its Platinum cards with annual fees of $695, following JPMorgan Chase’s announcement of changes to the Sapphire Reserve card. A Bank of America survey revealed that 52% of consumers with premium cards prefer card points over cash back. Premium cardholders can earn large welcome points bonuses with high spending requirements.
