ProCap BTC, led by Anthony Pompliano, purchased 1,208 bitcoin just one day after buying $385 million worth of the cryptocurrency. The company paid an average of $105,977 per token in a $128 million transaction, bringing their total bitcoin holdings to 4,932, recently valued at $108,000 each.

This acquisition follows ProCap BTC’s announcement to go public through a $1 billion deal with Columbus Circle Capital Corp. The company will be renamed ProCap Financial, Inc. post-merger. ProCap’s rapid bitcoin buying emphasizes its dedication to building up its BTC stock and offering instant bitcoin exposure to investors.

ProCap sees bitcoin as a financial benchmark, not just an asset, calling it “the new hurdle rate.” The company plans to continue buying bitcoin as part of its balance sheet strategy, aiming to hold up to $1 billion in BTC by the time of the public listing.
