Apple supplier Jabil plans $500M venture for AI infrastructure

Electronics component maker Jabil is investing $500 million to expand cloud and AI data center infrastructure in the U.S., aiming to meet growing demand for AI data centers nationwide by mid-2026. Jabil’s CEO, Mike Dastoor, sees this initiative as crucial for diversifying the company’s commercial portfolio and strengthening its U.S. presence. The company, based in St. Petersburg, Florida, serves major brands in various industries and operates globally with a focus on automation and optimization.

Jabil’s investment follows similar moves by tech giants Apple, Nvidia, and Foxconn to expand manufacturing in the U.S. Apple plans to invest over $500 billion in the next four years, including a major facility in Houston. Nvidia aims to invest $500 billion to build AI supercomputers in the U.S., partnering with TSMC, Foxconn, and others, while also establishing semiconductor chip and AI supercomputer facilities in Arizona and Houston. Foxconn is investing $450 million in a Houston property to create an AI server manufacturing facility.
