Apple is gaining market share with strong Mac sales and new chip releases

Apple is gaining share in the PC market with strong demand for Mac devices powered by the M4 family of chips. Mac sales in Q2 of fiscal 2025 reached $7.95 billion, beating estimates by 1.99%. IDC and Gartner reports show Apple’s market share growth and shipment volume increase.

Apple launched the M3 Ultra chip and macOS Tahoe 26, enhancing AI capabilities and design. The upcoming M5 chip-powered MacBooks are expected to further drive Mac shipment volume. Mac revenues are projected to have a 1.9% CAGR between 2024 and 2027.

Competition in the PC market is heating up with a growing interest in AI-enabled PCs and Windows 11 upgrades. Companies like Lenovo, HP, and Dell Technologies are positioning themselves for success. HP forecasts that 40-60% of all PCs will be AI-enabled in the next three years.

Apple’s stock has dropped 19.7% YTD, trading at a premium compared to the industry. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for fiscal 2025 earnings is $7.11 per share, with a projected 5.33% growth. Apple currently holds a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
