Arla Foods invests €34.5m in a dairy facility in Jönköping, Sweden to start skyr production, meeting local demand and focusing on 1kg buckets. The new line is expected to operate in Q1 2028, supporting future category growth and sustainability goals. The dairy already produces 280+ products and employs 290 people.

Arla is expanding skyr production to Sweden to meet consumer demand and create a strong European production network. No immediate job creation is expected, but long-term employment prospects look promising. The investment aims to secure future growth in the skyr category and enhance Arla’s expertise in protein-rich products.

In April, Arla announced a merger with German dairy cooperative DMK Group, forming Europe’s largest dairy cooperative with over 12,000 farmers across seven countries. Despite forecasting a decline in volume metrics in 2025, Arla expects revenue growth driven by high dairy prices but faces challenges from consumer uncertainty affecting branded products.
