Big New Expansion at Ford’s Louisville Plant Sends Ford Motor Company (F) Stock Jumping
From Yahoo Finance: 2025-06-14 13:54:00
Ford Motor Company is expanding its Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky as part of a $1.2 billion EV transition investment. The expansion includes a 52,000-square-foot increase and plans for a 30,000-square-foot dock space, a 10,000-square-foot dock addition, and a 12,000-square-foot EV charging station with 16 units. This move is part of a larger shift towards all-electric vehicles by 2025, as outlined in the 2023 UAW-Ford labor contract.
The labor agreement also guarantees an EV product at only three Ford Motor Company facilities nationwide, including the LAP. While there may be temporary layoffs during the transition, the upgrade is necessary for the production shift. The president of UAW Local 862, Todd Dunn, did not specify when these temporary layoffs would occur.
