Campbell’s Co. reported a boost in sales of broth and condensed soup in its latest quarter as more Americans cooked at home. Sales of broths rose 15%, while Rao’s pasta sauces sales were up 2%. However, sales of snacks like Goldfish crackers and Cape Cod potato chips fell 4%.

President and CEO Mick Beekhuizen noted the highest level of meals cooked at home since early 2020. Other companies, like McDonald’s, have also seen Americans eating at home more due to economic uncertainty. Grocery prices have moderated, with food at home prices rising 1.2% in 2024 compared to 4.1% for food away from home.

Campbell’s net sales for the fiscal third quarter rose 4% to $2.5 billion, meeting Wall Street’s expectations. PepsiCo and General Mills, makers of popular snacks, have also reported lower demand in recent quarters.
