Asia is set to dominate global liquids storage capacity additions by 2030, with China, India, and Malaysia leading the way. China is expected to contribute nearly 35% of Asia’s capacity additions, focusing on refinery terminal-type projects. India will also add significant capacity, with Strategic Petroleum Reserve projects playing a key role in enhancing energy security.
China’s Zhoushan V Expansion project, led by Zhejiang Petrochemical Co Ltd, is a major player in the country’s liquids storage capacity growth, with a capacity of 132 million barrels expected by 2028. India’s Bikaner and Chandikhol projects will add around 195mbbl of capacity by 2030, further strengthening the country’s energy security in emergencies.
