C&S Wholesale Grocers is set to acquire SpartanNash for $1.77bn in cash, a 52.5% premium over recent stock valuations. The merger, approved by both boards, will unite 60 distribution centres and 10,000 retail locations. The transaction is expected to close in late 2025 pending approvals. The combined capabilities of C&S and SpartanNash will focus on preserving accessible nutrition and pharmacy services, especially in underserved areas.
