CSX Corp. announced a new five-year labor agreement with the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, covering about 3,400 locomotive engineers. The deal includes general wage increases and health and welfare improvements, similar to agreements with 13 other unions. Locomotive engineers make up 20% of CSX’s frontline workforce, with 75% of unionized workers now covered by new agreements. The only remaining major workgroup not covered is trainmen/conductors represented by SMART-TD, with negotiations ongoing to consolidate territories and execute a single-system collective agreement.
