Darknet marketplaces are growing after Huione shutdown, with Tudou Guarantee seeing major success

The closure of Huione Guarantee led to the emergence of Tudou Guarantee, which saw its user base double, capturing much of Huione’s former transaction volume. Merchants offering illicit services also made the switch to Tudou, with over 30 Telegram-based dark markets experiencing increased activity after Huione’s shutdown.

Elliptic confirmed that Huione Guarantee’s activity has not declined post-shutdown, but instead grown. However, there may be confusion with other Huione Group businesses like Huione Pay, which accepts crypto payments and helps launder scam proceeds. Transactions on Huione Guarantee dropped to negligible levels by late May.

Despite the closure of Huione Guarantee, the dark market ecosystem is still thriving, with other marketplaces taking advantage of the void left by Huione. Elliptic warns that continuous removal of these marketplaces from Telegram is necessary to combat the growing global scam epidemic.
