Wealthy American families are increasing their exposure to stocks despite recession worries and global trade tensions, with 32% of their portfolios allocated to equities as of April 4, up from 28% last year, according to UBS data. Family offices are favoring US stocks due to better performance relative to the rest of the world.

Investors are trimming private equity holdings and moving towards public markets to gain exposure to artificial intelligence, as IPOs and M&A activity impact private equity performance. The UBS report shows American family offices heavily favor US stocks, with 86% of their portfolios allocated to domestic equities.

Over 70% of family offices view a trade war as the biggest risk to their financial goals, followed by major geopolitical conflict and inflation. Despite concerns, most family offices plan to maintain the same level of portfolio risk in 2025 as they did in 2024, focusing on a steady, long-term approach to preserve wealth across generations.
