Electra Battery Materials Corp. plans to invest $750,000 in an early works program to restart construction on its cobalt sulfate refinery in Ontario after a two-year delay. CEO Trent Mell stated the projects will lay the groundwork for full construction to accelerate. The company estimates it needs $60 million to complete the refinery, with funding commitments totaling $54 million so far. Electra aims to raise the remaining $6 million to finish construction and begin production. Demand for cobalt sulfate in North America remains high, with an offtake agreement already in place for 80% of the production capacity.
