ESPN renews media deal with Premier Lacrosse League, adds equity stake

Utah Archers midfielder Tre Leclaire played in the Premier Lacrosse League Cash App Championship against the Maryland Whipsnakes at Subaru Park. ESPN has renewed its media deal with the PLL, including equity stake. The five-year deal starts in 2026 and covers regular-season, playoff, and championship games. Lacrosse will be added to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Disney-owned ESPN will have a 3% stake in the league. Viewership on ABC for the PLL championship game was up 9% in 2024. Attendance, ticket revenue, and sponsor dollars for the PLL have all seen significant increases. The league has financial backing from various investors. The PLL recently launched a Women’s Lacrosse League in its inaugural season.
