Fashion for Good and Arvind launch a project targeting Tier 2 factories to make them environmentally sustainable while remaining financially viable. The initiative includes creating eco-friendly production practices and an advanced manufacturing site to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 93%.

Arvind plans to build a new facility in Gujarat, India, focusing on cotton production to cut greenhouse gas emissions and conserve water. The goal is to establish the industry’s first near net-zero textile production hub with a strong emphasis on environmental impact reduction and commercial success.

The initiative aims to transition operations towards near net-zero through renewable energy use, reduce water consumption, achieve ZDHC level 3 compliance for chemicals, enhance wastewater quality, and prioritize worker well-being. The project will debut at the Global Fashion Summit 2025.

Fashion for Good managing director and Arvind Limited vice chairman express commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices. The initiative receives support from various funders and partners, with plans to release an open-source blueprint in September 2025. Other suppliers are invited to collaborate on additional blueprints for sustainable practices.

Fashion for Good collaborates with Bestseller, On, and other fashion brands to drive the transition away from fossil-fuel-based polymers. The initiative seeks to catalyze transformation in the fashion industry towards sustainability, showcasing real-world solutions for systemic change in Tier 2 manufacturing.

The partnership between Fashion for Good and Arvind represents a critical step in the fashion industry’s journey towards sustainability. By developing practical solutions for Tier 2 factories, the initiative aims to drive significant environmental and commercial improvements in the textile manufacturing sector.
