A Florida investor, Brian Firestone, sues Alpha Stock Investment Training Center and CoinBridge Partners for scamming him out of $860,000 through a fake crypto exchange promising huge profits. Firestone initially invested $500 and saw his balance reach $24.5 million before a failed trade wiped it out. The real Coinbridge Partners denies involvement in the scheme.
Firestone alleges ASITC used signal trading to lure investors, providing exact trade instructions for users to execute on CoinBridge. Initially turning $500 into $55,000, Firestone invested more, seeing his balance hit $2 million. However, a failed trade led to significant losses, with Firestone borrowing $1.8 million from ASITC before his account was shut down.
In 2025, over $2.1 billion has been stolen in crypto incidents, with most losses stemming from wallet compromises and key mismanagement. Phishing attacks alone accounted for over $1 billion in losses in 2024. This trend reflects a shift towards targeting user behavior rather than code-based hacks in the crypto space.
