HKICPA and ACCA renew agreement to simplify pathways for professional qualifications

The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) has renewed its mutual recognition agreement (MRA) with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) to support career development since 2000. The updated MRA allows members to acquire ACCA or HKICPA membership based on qualifications and experience, simplifying the process. The partnership aims to attract diverse talent to the accounting profession in Hong Kong and drive continuous advancement.
HKICPA president Edward Au stated the MRA provides simplified pathways for members to obtain professional qualifications from each other, enhancing career mobility. The collaboration between HKICPA and ACCA benefits the accounting profession and the Hong Kong economy. ACCA chairman Stanley Ho looks forward to driving sustainable growth for the profession and community through redesigned qualifications in 2027.
As a founding member of the Global Accounting Alliance (GAA), HKICPA focuses on maintaining international recognition and engaging with global accounting professions. In addition to ACCA, HKICPA has mutual agreements with 11 accounting bodies in Mainland China and overseas. Recently, CPA Australia also renewed its MRA with HKICPA, indicating strong partnerships in the accounting industry.
