Hyatt Hotels has agreed to sell its Playa Hotels & Resorts real estate portfolio to Tortuga Resorts for $2 billion, just two weeks after acquiring it. The deal includes 15 all-inclusive resort properties in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica, with Hyatt continuing to manage 13 of them. This move aligns with Hyatt’s asset-light strategy, driving performance results and increasing fee-based earnings. The sale is expected to generate $555 million in net earnings for Hyatt, with a forecasted $60-65 million in stabilized adjusted EBITDA by 2027. The transaction is set to close by year-end pending regulatory approval.
