The Indonesia stock market saw gains ahead of the Islamic New Year holiday, with the Jakarta Composite Index rising just below 6,900 points. Global markets are optimistic over potential resolution to tariff talks, with European and U.S. markets closing higher. The JCI ended Thursday higher, led by telecoms, financial, and resource stocks. The Dow, NASDAQ, and S&P 500 all finished in positive territory. President Trump’s indication of new trade deals with China initially boosted stocks, but a setback occurred when trade talks with Canada were cut short due to a digital services tax. Crude oil prices rose on strong demand and trade deal readiness.
