The Indonesian Government is cracking down on environmental violations at the Morowali Industrial Park, a key nickel production hub. Sanctions will include fines for poor wastewater management and air pollution. The move aims to address concerns over the industry’s rapid growth and environmental impact. Tsingshan Holding Group, a Chinese company, controls the park with over $30bn in investment. The government also revoked mining permits in Raja Ampat due to environmental concerns, sparking protests.
