Swedish fintech Klarna is introducing a Visa debit card in the US, offering buy now, pay later (BNPL) loans alongside traditional debit card features. Klarna’s revenue grew to $2.8 billion in 2024, with plans for a wider rollout of the debit card later this year. Klarna’s consumer credit losses rose to $136 million in the first quarter, but the percentage of unpaid loans remained relatively stable. Klarna postponed its US IPO plans due to market volatility caused by tariffs, while rival PayPal announced its own Mastercard with BNPL capabilities.
