Knorr-Bremse secures rail contracts in China

Germany-based Knorr-Bremse secures rail contracts with CRRC to supply braking systems for metro projects in Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Wuhan, Shenzhen, and Ningbo. The contracts are worth an estimated €50 million and cover 150 trains. Knorr-Bremse is also exploring export opportunities from China and has recently won contracts for locomotives in Kazakhstan.

Knorr-Bremse will provide braking systems for new LRVs in Astana, Kazakhstan, and Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The company has also received an order to install braking systems on 36 trains with 288 railcars for Chengdu’s Line 13. Knorr-Bremse is enhancing its global operations through its BOOST programme, upgrading manufacturing plants in Suzhou and Palwal, India.

Hitachi Rail enlisted Knorr-Bremse to supply system technologies for up to 30 metro trains for Rome. The trains will feature Knorr-Bremse’s braking, coupling, and entrance systems. Knorr-Bremse’s success in securing rail contracts in China reflects its long-standing partnership with the Chinese rail industry and its ability to meet customer needs in a dynamic market.
