Kraken announced the launch of Kraken Prime, a prime brokerage platform for institutional crypto clients on June 3. Clients can access liquidity representing over 90% of the crypto market across more than 20 global venues. Kraken Financial, a U.S. state-chartered bank, is the custodian of assets for direct trades.

Kraken Prime aims to meet execution quality and service expectations of institutional investors. The platform offers asset-backed lending, credit facilities, advanced trading tools, and 24×7 client service. The brokerage service was launched in response to growing institutional demand driven by asset managers, hedge funds, and corporations amid increased regulatory clarity.

The crypto industry has seen a positive shift after Donald Trump took office, with Kraken’s charges of operating an unregistered securities exchange dismissed in March. Founded in 2011, Kraken has been expanding globally, recently acquiring NinjaTrader and launching regulated crypto derivatives in Europe. The exchange aims to solidify its position as a global player in the crypto market.
