Maersk introduces Maersk Trade & Tariff Studio, a digital solution using AI to simplify customs processes for global cargo owners amidst rising tariffs and regulatory challenges. Traditional fragmented customs strategies lead to overpayments and delays in shipments, highlighting the need for more efficient solutions.
Research by Maersk shows that 5-6% of tariffs are overpaid on average due to lack of centralized data, while inadequate customs preparation causes 20% of shipment delays. Many businesses underutilize Free Trade Agreements due to complexity, resulting in missed opportunities for cost savings and increased efficiency in global trade.
Maersk Trade & Tariff Studio leverages AI-powered tariff engineering to optimize customs processes, ensuring correct application of product codes and sub-codes. The platform offers real-time updates from Maersk’s network of customs experts, enabling businesses to stay informed of the latest tariff and regulation changes for improved compliance.
The Studio will launch on June 28 for U.S. cargo imports after successful pilot testing, with a global rollout planned for August. Designed as part of Maersk’s integrated logistics services, the platform can also be used independently as a stand-alone solution for businesses seeking to streamline their customs operations.
