Meta Platforms announced plans to begin placing ads on WhatsApp, a messaging app with over 3 billion monthly users. Ads will appear on the Updates tab, used by over 1.5 billion users daily. This move is part of Meta’s strategy to increase ad sales through volume control, as ad loads are high on Facebook and Instagram. Monetizing WhatsApp has been a gradual process for Meta, and it may lag behind other platforms due to less data for targeting ads. Despite this, Meta’s stock is considered marginally undervalued with a fair value estimate of $770.
