New Fortress Energy disqualified from Puerto Rico power auction despite claims of efficiency

New Fortress Energy Inc. (NASDAQ:NFE) has been disqualified from Puerto Rico’s power auction for an 800-megawatt temporary power generation contract. The bid was declared “non-conforming” despite claiming to be the cleanest and least expensive option with rapid startup capabilities. NFE is struggling with rising debt and an 80% decline in market value. Puerto Rico narrowed the bid list to Javelin Global Commodities and Power Expectations LLC.
