JPMorgan Chase has contributed $1 million to support three New Orleans non-profit organizations, including the Financial Wellness Collaborative. The collaborative, comprised of Propeller, Thrive New Orleans, and Fund 17, aims to provide small businesses with financial management tools. This investment is the largest JPMorgan Chase has made in the collaborative.
Victoria Adams Phipps, VP of Global Philanthropy at JPMorgan Chase, commended the Financial Wellness Collaborative’s proactive approach in securing the investment. She highlighted the success of the initial pilot program in 2022 and emphasized the importance of building relationships for small business growth in New Orleans.
The grant from JPMorgan Chase allows the Financial Wellness Collaborative to offer services like financial coaching, credit counseling, and assistance with obtaining credentials to entrepreneurs. Travis Williams of Nola Steele, a previous program recipient, praised the program for helping him organize operations and secure funding when traditional avenues failed.
Phipps acknowledged that many businesses in New Orleans lack crucial resources for growth, such as access to networks, expertise, and capital. With the support of the Financial Wellness Collaborative and JPMorgan Chase, over 400 businesses have advanced in their growth journey.
