OpenAI, creator of ChatGPT, is in talks with Saudi’s PIF, India’s Reliance Industries, and the UAE’s MGX for a $40 billion financing round. The investors could each contribute hundreds of millions of dollars. The funding will support OpenAI’s model development and infrastructure plan, Stargate, led by SoftBank.

CEO Sam Altman of OpenAI met with India’s IT Minister and plans to discuss funding with MGX in the UAE. They are also looking to raise at least $100 million each from Coatue and Founders Fund. A reported additional $17 billion is expected to be raised in 2027.

Reuters has not confirmed the report. OpenAI, PIF, Reliance Industries, MGX, and SoftBank did not respond to Reuters’ requests for comment. The discussions highlight a growing interest in AI development and investment opportunities in the tech industry.
