Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. – Petrobras signed $892 million contracts with Consag Engenharia to complete Train 2 at the Abreu e Lima Refinery in Brazil, part of Petrobras’ 2025-2029 plan. Resuming construction will double RNEST’s refining capacity to 260,000 bpd, creating 30,000 jobs and supporting Brazil’s energy goals.
The three units being constructed – Delayed Coking Unit, Diesel Hydrotreating Unit S10, and Atmospheric Distillation Unit – aim to increase high-value derivatives production and provide cleaner fuels. Once operational in 2029, Train 2 at RNEST will double the refinery’s capacity, making it Petrobras’ second-largest.
Petrobras’ investment in the construction of Train 2 at RNEST marks a significant step in their expansion plans. The recent completion of Train 1’s modernization and the commissioning of the SNOX unit show Petrobras’ commitment to enhancing efficiency, meeting emissions standards, and supporting economic growth. Investing in Petrobras could be a strategic move for investors looking for opportunities in the energy sector.
