The Securities and Exchange Commission has chosen Dimensional Fund Advisors as an example for dual share class structure approval. Other companies in the queue are encouraged to use Dimensional’s application as a template. The latest revisions include heightened oversight by fund boards and more disclosure for investors.

Over 60 fund companies have applied for dual share classes with the SEC, with 43 amending existing applications to align with the Dimensional blueprint. Fund boards will now assess products for ETF or mutual fund share class fit, emphasizing transparency and conflict resolution between share classes.

The SEC’s approval process for dual share classes has prompted fund companies to apply, with many following the blueprint set by Dimensional Fund Advisors. The amended applications focus on board oversight, conflict resolution, and transparency for investors in the dual share class structure.
