RINA has acquired Foreship, a Finnish naval architecture and marine engineering firm, to enhance marine consulting services, particularly in Northern Europe. Foreship reported revenues of €15.2m in 2024 with over 90 professionals across eight international offices, known for cruise ship design and sustainable marine technologies.

The acquisition aligns with RINA’s goal to be a key reference point for clients, leveraging Foreship’s reputation and global customer base. The integration of Foreship’s naval architecture capabilities is expected to create synergies and expand RINA’s market share in maritime consultancy, focusing on retrofits, new fuel integrations, and digital transformation.

Foreship will operate within RINA Consulting, maintaining its governance and organizational structure. CEO Lauri Haavisto expressed excitement about accelerating growth, expanding knowledge, and strengthening client relationships through the partnership with RINA. The acquisition was facilitated by Lazard, with support from Bain & Company and PwC, and legal counsel from Borenius Attorneys.

In April, RINA, Eni, and Fincantieri introduced a study on sustainable maritime transport outlook with Bain & Company Italy. The study aims to guide decarbonization efforts in the maritime industry, outlining pathways, impacts, and investments necessary to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
