Summary: Sana Biotechnology’s groundbreaking first-in-human study showed potential in treating Type 1 Diabetes by transplanting insulin-secreting cells without immunosuppression. Six-month results demonstrated the safety, survival, and insulin production of transplanted pancreatic islet cells using HIP technology. The study aims to achieve normal blood glucose levels without insulin. MRI scans showed graft survival, and data was shared at the ADA Scientific Sessions. The study continues to evaluate safety and function of transplanted cells. The HIP technology will be used to develop SC451, a stem cell-derived therapy for Type 1 Diabetes.
