Glean, a U.S. enterprise AI search startup, hits a valuation of $7.2 billion in its latest funding round. This represents a 57% increase in valuation, reflecting strong investor interest in AI startups. Businesses and governments worldwide are increasingly adopting AI for various applications. The funding round, led by Wellington Management, raised $150 million for Glean.
Startups like Glean are opting to stay private longer, raising larger funds in late-stage rounds due to slow public market recovery. Glean, founded in 2019 by former Google search engineers, surpassed $100 million in annual recurring revenue. The company’s AI assistants and language models provide personalized answers to queries, with a valuation multiple on revenue at 72x.
Glean recently introduced Glean Agents, an AI automation offering for businesses. The company aims to support 1 billion agent actions by the end of 2025. Industry leaders see AI-based agents as transformative technology. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella believes agents will disrupt the software-as-a-service business model. Investors view Glean’s cash-flow positive status as an early access opportunity.
