Jamie Selway, a market structure and investment technology expert, has been chosen to lead the trading and markets division at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The division, hit hard by staff reductions, oversees broker-dealers, stock exchanges, and other market players. Selway, currently a partner at Sophron Advisors, has previous experience at crypto firm Blockchain and BATS Global Markets.
Selway had withdrawn as a candidate for the position in the Trump administration. While working at Investment Technology Group in 2010, he reported improper use of client data by another executive, leading to a record fine for the company. The SEC has not commented on Selway’s appointment. Selway has not provided any comments on the matter.
