Sensex, Nifty Extend Gains For Third Day

Indian shares surged for a third consecutive session on Thursday, boosted by optimism about a potential Israel-Iran ceasefire and a weakening U.S. dollar. Oil prices stabilized near two-week lows, despite reports of U.S. President Trump considering replacing Fed Chair Jerome Powell. The BSE Sensex rose 1.21% to 83,755.87, while the NSE Nifty closed at 25,549, up 1.21%. Mid-cap and small-cap indexes underperformed, with market breadth strong as 2,097 shares rose. Top gainers included NTPC, HDFC Bank, and Tata Steel, with defense stocks like Sika Interplant Systems also surging after NATO’s agreement on higher defense spending.
