Southwest Airlines is considering adding airport lounges, premium seating, and long-haul international flights to attract high-spending customers. The carrier is in the midst of a transformation, undoing some of its policies to increase revenue. Despite cheaper fares, Southwest hasn’t seen customers defect due to recent changes, including basic economy tickets and bag fees. Competitors like Delta, United, and American have invested in luxury tourism destinations and airport lounges. Southwest is exploring the possibility of flying to Europe but is still awaiting deliveries of Boeing 737 Max 7s.
