Starbucks in China has reduced prices on tea-based beverages to attract more customers in a competitive market. Prices will drop by an average of five yuan on a variety of drinks, appealing to the demand for non-coffee options, especially during the summer. This move marks a departure from Starbucks’ usual premium pricing strategy, aligning with China’s deflationary consumer trend. The company aims to compete with local tea chains by offering lower-priced options. CEO Brian Niccol focuses on coffee in the US, while Starbucks expands tea offerings in China to capture market share. The new pricing starts at 23 yuan, closer to local competitors’ prices as low as 9.9 or 8.8 yuan.
