European technology group STRABAG has finalized the acquisition of WTE Wassertechnik, an environmental service provider focused on water supply and energy recovery projects. The purchase price totaled €100m ($114.9m) with additional shareholder loans. The move aligns with Strabag’s Strategy 2030 objectives to expand water technology capabilities, anticipating an annual output of €400m.
The acquisition is pending regulatory clearances, including antitrust approval, with the transaction expected to close within the next six months. Strabag SE’s Supervisory Board has approved the deal, aiming to enhance the company’s integrated water management portfolio. Strabag is known for its planning, construction, and facility management services with 86,000 employees and a strong presence across Europe.
In addition to acquiring WTE Wassertechnik, Strabag has made notable progress in water technology projects this year, including a water treatment plant in Croatia and preferred bidder status for the Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme in the UK. The company’s Cologne-based subsidiary, Strabag AG, has also acquired Sandkamp Tiefbau, a German pipeline construction company, integrating 25 employees into the Strabag team in Nordhorn and Gronau.
