Sugar prices today extended their 3-month-long slide, hitting 4-year lows due to expectations of a global sugar surplus. Fund short covering lifted London sugar into positive territory, but the outlook for improving global sugar supplies continues to weigh on prices. India and Brazil are projected to see significant increases in sugar production, adding to the bearish sentiment. The USDA also projected record sugar production and consumption for 2025/26, along with increased global sugar ending stocks.
