Taiwan Semiconductor Eyes UAE Gigafab, Seeks Crucial US Green Light

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. is considering building an advanced gigafab in the United Arab Emirates. The company is exploring a complex of six factories, similar to its Arizona fab, pending regulatory approval from the Trump administration due to the Gulf nation’s ties to China and Iran. Taiwan Semiconductor met with U.S. special representative Steve Witkoff and MGX officials regarding this potential project. The UAE previously sought a Taiwan Semiconductor fab under the Biden administration but talks failed to materialize. In March, the UAE announced a $1.4 trillion commitment to invest in the U.S., with Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives highlighting Saudi Arabia as a significant area for the AI revolution. This could add another $1 trillion to the global AI market in the coming years. TSM shares are trading lower by 0.94% at $191.50 premarket.
