Teck Resources Limited has received an Environmental Assessment Certificate for the proposed Highland Valley Copper Mine Life Extension project in British Columbia. The project is expected to create about 2,900 jobs during construction and support 1,500 direct jobs and $500 million in annual GDP once operational. The project will extend the life of Canada’s largest copper mine to the mid-2040s. Site preparation work is set to begin soon, with a final construction decision expected in the third quarter of 2025. This project aims to strengthen North America’s critical minerals supply chain.
