CEO pay has skyrocketed, rising 1,085% since 1978, compared to a 24% increase in typical workers’ pay. In 2023, CEOs made 290 times the average worker’s salary, a drastic change from 1965 when it was 21 times more. The Wall Street Journal reported record-breaking pay for top executives in 2024, with half earning $17.1 million or more.

Greg Peters, Netflix co-CEO, earned $60.27 million in 2024, a 50% increase from the year before. David Simon, CEO of Simon Property Group, took home $61.39 million, up 294% from the previous year. Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s other co-CEO, made $61.92 million, a 24% increase from 2023.

Scott Nuttall, co-CEO of KKR, earned $64.20 million in 2024, a 36% rise from the year prior. David Gitlin, CEO of Carrier Global, made $65.73 million, up 271% from the previous year. Joseph Bae, the other co-CEO of KKR, took home $73.09 million, a 49% increase from 2023.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, earned $74.61 million in 2024, up 18% from the year before. Stephen Schwarzman, CEO of Blackstone, made $84.03 million, a 30% decrease from 2023. H. Lawrence Culp Jr., CEO of GE, earned $88.95 million, up 505% from the previous year.

Rick Smith, CEO of Axon Enterprise, made $164.53 million in 2024, a staggering increase of over 999%. CEO pay continues to soar, highlighting the growing disparity between executive compensation and average worker salaries.
