The Energy and Materials sectors are the best performing, with notable gains in individual stocks

The Energy sector is the best performing sector midday Thursday, up 1.3%. APA Corp (APA) and Targa Resources Corp (TRGP) are leading with gains of 4.1% and 3.1%. The Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) is up 1.2% on the day. In the Materials sector, Freeport-McMoran Copper & Gold (FCX) and Albemarle Corp. (ALB) are notable, with gains of 7.2% and 6.8%. The Materials Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLB) is up 1.1%. Overall, nine sectors in the S&P 500 are up on the day, with none down.
