Australia’s mining and energy export earnings are projected to decline over the next two years due to trade barriers, falling commodity prices, and a weak global economy, according to a government report. Uncertainty surrounding US President Trump’s policies has disrupted global trade, impacting business investment decisions. Iron ore and LNG export earnings are expected to decrease, while gold is anticipated to become Australia’s third-largest export. Higher gold prices and forecasted increases in copper and lithium exports are offsetting the impact of lower commodity prices. Lithium prices are expected to slowly recover in the coming years.
