Tyson Foods plans to invest $23.5m in a Kentucky facility to meet growing protein demand. Expansion in Robards will include new equipment and upgrades to boost production and product variety by spring 2026. Meanwhile, workers at a Texas beef-processing site threaten to strike over wage and benefit demands.
The Teamsters union members at the Amarillo site voted 98% in favor of a strike against Tyson Foods. They are demanding higher wages and improved benefits, citing unfair compensation discrepancies. The union has accused Tyson of breaching labor laws and coercing injured workers into withdrawing claims.
Tyson Foods was part of a group settling a wage dispute for $180.8m without admitting liability. According to court documents, the processors conspired to suppress compensation for workers over nearly two decades. The company faces scrutiny for labor practices amid investment in expanding production capacity in Kentucky.
