U.S.-Listed Bitcoin Miners’ Share of Network Hashrate Hit Record High in June: JPMorgan

The total hashrate of 13 U.S.-listed bitcoin miners now represents 31.5% of the global network, a record high. These miners added 11 EH/s of capacity since April, led by CleanSpark, Hive Technologies, and Riot Platforms. The network hashrate fell 10 EH/s in the first two weeks of June but remains up over 50% year-on-year.
Hashrate is a measure of computational power used to mine and process transactions on a proof-of-work blockchain. The miners’ aggregate hashrate increased 99% year-on-year, surpassing the network’s 55% y/y growth. The hash price, indicating daily mining profitability, dropped 2% from May. The total market cap of the 13 companies rose 10% in the first two weeks of June.
Riot outperformed the group with a 20% gain, while Bitfarms saw a 9% decline. The total market cap of the 13 U.S.-listed bitcoin miners increased by $2.4 billion in the first half of June, according to JPMorgan. The miners’ aggregate hashrate has risen 99% year-on-year, outpacing the network’s 55% y/y growth.
