U.S. manufacturing activity remains weak in May with PMI dropping to 48.5.

Tariffs continue to impact U.S. manufacturing as the PMI dropped to 48.5 in May from 48.7 in April, lower than the expected 49.5. Readings below 50 indicate contraction, marking the third consecutive month below that level. January saw growth at 50.9, breaking a streak of 26 months below 50.
