Major beverage-alcohol distributor Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) is set to withdraw from California in September. This decision follows the loss of major contracts, including Brown-Forman moving to rival distributor Reyes Beverage Group. The distributor’s departure will take effect on 2 September, impacting many roles in the state.
RNDC’s move prompted Tito’s Handmade Vodka to also switch its California distribution to Reyes Beverage Group. Treasury Wine Estates, an Australia-based wine group, is among the companies RNDC works for in California. Despite RNDC’s exit, Treasury Wine Estates stated it would not affect its financial results in the current financial year ending in June.
Brown-Forman recently announced a new contract in California with Reyes Beverage Group. The Jack Daniel’s maker made changes to its US distribution network, with RNDC set to handle its products in 12 markets, down from 23. RNDC’s closure in California is not expected to impact its business in other states, reaffirming commitment to driving Treasury Wine Estates’ portfolio.
