Australia’s Woodside Energy has reached a deal to supply one million tonnes of LNG to Petronas over 15 years starting in 2028. The LNG will come from Woodside’s global portfolio, including the approved Louisiana LNG project. This collaboration aims to meet the growing demand for LNG in Malaysia and the Asia-Pacific region.

Woodside’s executive VP expressed excitement for this partnership with Petronas, highlighting the potential of Woodside’s Louisiana LNG project. The agreement will help Petronas secure a stable LNG supply for the region. Both companies are working towards finalizing a sales and purchase agreement to solidify the deal.

Petronas is focused on managing Malaysia’s hydrocarbon resources and aims for net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. In a separate deal, Woodside previously signed agreements with Uniper to supply LNG from Louisiana and its global portfolio. This new collaboration marks a significant step towards energy security and sustainability in the region.
