Japanese AI firm Quantum Solutions plans to invest in bitcoin through its subsidiary in Hong Kong, aiming to purchase up to $10 million in BTC with borrowed funds to build a treasury of 3,000 BTC over the next year. The move is driven by fiat currency depreciation and financial uncertainty, marking the company’s first foray into digital assets.
The decision to add bitcoin to their reserve assets is based on efficient fund management, asset diversification, financial base strengthening, and value preservation. The new business line will follow a phased investment policy and utilize a dedicated account at crypto exchange Hashkey. Bitcoin treasuries in Japan have been growing, with companies like Metaplanet holding 16,352 BTC on their balance sheets.
Notable Japanese companies holding bitcoin include NEXON, Remixpoint, Convene, SBC Medical Group Holdings, and Anap Holdings, collectively owning 19,623 BTC. Despite this, these holdings pale in comparison to Strategy, the world’s largest corporate bitcoin treasury firm, which holds a massive 607,770 BTC.
